The Case for Residential Sprinkers
According to a recent article in FireRescue Magazine, "Less than 3% of all homes in America are sprinklered. Residential fires account for nearly
3,000 civilian deaths each year, and 90% of the firefighters who die in burning buildings do so in residential structures - within five feet of a
door or window. We die in single-family homes because they aren't sprinklered - period."

Bay Shore Road Structure Fire
At approximately 4:24 am on April 30th, 2012, the Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched for a structure fire at 21785 Bay Shore Road. Upon arrival, first units on the scene found a 2 story wood frame/part masonry structure fully involved.
The house was occupied by one individual who made it out safely thanks to his pet dog. The homeowner advised he was sleeping and noticed his dog was outside running around barking. This alerted him to wake up to see what was going on. He evacuated the residence and went for help. Many mutual aid fire companies made the response and performed exterior fire operations.
The American Red Cross was called in to assist the victim.
The cause of the fire is under investigation from the Maryland State Fire Marshall's Office.
